OKZest: my main focus
OKZest creates personalised images for email and marketing. You design one on-brand template, connect your campaign data, and OKZest generates the finished images automatically: a subscriber's name on a banner, a city on a background, that sort of thing. There's a no-code visual editor for marketers and an API for technical teams. It works with 99% of email service providers and there's a free plan to try it.
I built it myself in ASP.NET/C#, and it's where most of my spare time goes.
SelfCrypto and SAP TLS
selfcrypto.com: Independent, plain-English guides to buying crypto in the UK, storing it safely, paying tax on it and avoiding scams. Every guide shows when it was last checked. It grew out of guides I'd been writing on Medium. cd ./selfcrypto
saptls.com: Where my day job meets my side projects. SAP TLS has guides for implementing and automatically renewing TLS certificates in SAP systems, and sells the certificates, each with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Public certificate lifetimes are being cut on a fixed schedule, which is a real headache for SAP landscapes, so this is meant to take the guesswork out of it. cd ./saptls
SAP tools: RunSAPnow and PerformIT
runsapnow.com: An idea I've been building that lets staff start and stop cloud-based SAP systems from Microsoft Teams or Slack. Systems run only when they're needed, which saves money and carbon and suits people who work flexible hours. cd ./runsapnow
performit.co.uk: My professional home and the original name of this website. Go here for my SAP consulting work.
Other side projects: Starbase24 and Baconaholic
starbase24.com: We find small businesses whose websites aren't doing them justice and redesign them for free, with no obligation. If they love it, they can keep it from £149. cd ./starbase24
baconaholic.com: "A person who is excessively fond of bacon." A light-hearted site about all things bacon: its history, the different types, cooking tips and recipes. Every maker needs one silly project. cd ./baconaholic
From the archive: GetMeCooking
GetMeCooking was a recipe site Kevin and I co-founded, filled with recipes from food bloggers using our own WordPress recipe plugin. I also wrote a book, How to create a successful food blog. We don't run it any more. cd ./getmecooking
From the archive: PlateJobs
PlateJobs was our recruitment website for people in the food service industry, the sister site to GetMeCooking. It's retired now too. cd ./platejobs
Too many ideas, not enough evenings. Some things never change.
