You never forget how to ride a bike (not the same with skateboards!)

After watching too many videos of people with skateboards on YourTube, I decided to get a longboard. I got a brand new one from Germany for £17 off of eBay – very cheap, but I don’t care if I trash it. It seems pretty good though – sturdy enough and very long.

Longboard

I hadn’t been on a skateboard since I was around 14. I got pretty good at snowboarding about 5 years ago (rails, jumps, regular, goofy, etc.) riding a longboard feels very foreign to me.

The first week I got it, I was actually doing alright. I was very slow, unsteady and I couldn’t propel myself along very well, but for a first time, I thought I did okay.

The second weekend I played with it, I was equally as unsteady. Then, on a flat path, I tried to kick myself along, but I somehow let the board slide forward and I went flying backwards onto my my left bum-cheek, whilst (I don’t know how) hurting my right foot. Oh and I grazed my left elbow a little.

A day later and my bottom and foot both hurt – a lot. My foot is the real issue though as it is hard to walk on. It hurts when I put pressure on it. I’m hobbling like the hunchbak of Notre Dame right now.

Bruising has come up on my foot (it wasn’t there after even a few hours of the accident).

I’m not sure what I’ve done to it, but it hurts! I hope it’s healed by next week, as we are heading to Centre Parcs (and I want to try longboarding again!).
