I’m rubbish at blogging (spreading myself to thinly)
I like to be creative – I find writing, photography, website design, website development and many other things all fun to do. The I have is one that I’ve always had, which is too many hobbies, too many ideas and not enough time.
For a long time, my dream has been to ditch the corporate world and to build up a small, focused business with my brother, which should equal or better the (high) salaries that we both get now. This would enable us to generate an income through our hobbies and give us a massive amount of time back, plus it would enable us to work from home, being closer with our families and allow us to enjoy a more healthy lifestyle.
Despite years of hard work on our hobbies (websites and a recipe plugin), we haven’t been able to generate any significant income – maybe this will change in our latest venture (we are hopeful). The attempt to make a viable business from the websites has taken an incredible about of time thousands upon thousands of hours).
Various sporting hobbies have also been a (pleasurable) distraction. It has been a long list, including shooting, mountain biking, jogging, 6 hour adventure races, Triathlons, half marathons, rock climbing, etc.
And then there’s family – when single, I spent almost all of my spare time in front of a computer (loved it!) and I liked making at least 1 improvement to a website every single day. But with a fiancee and a son, the amount of time I get to do this stuff has diminished – vastly. I have always heard people talk about how little sleep they get when they have a baby, but I wasn’t quite prepared for HOW LITTLE SLEEP you get when having a baby – my productivity was a zero for a long time!
But I have never shaken the desire to blog – so here I am. Here it is – a blog post. When will my next one be? I hope it’s soon.
